Tips for Cleaning Your Stuffed Animal or Plush Toy December 30, 2010

We can help you keep your child and home free of germs! Since kids will sleep with their stuffed animals, try to eat them or put their hands (complete with day-long accumulated grubbiness) all over the toy, it’s important to keep the plush toys as clean as the rest of your home. Collectors too have that stuffed animal that could use a little cleaning — maybe it collected dirt on a shelf or the dog or cat got their paws on it! And since friends and fans have been writing us on Facebook asking, “what’s the best way to clean a dirty plush animal or toy?” — we went to our friends at Aurora, the manufacturer of thousands of plush toys and gifts, who gave us a great list of tips to clean your plush toy or animal. Maybe it’s time to clean your YooHoo & Friends animal?

Stuffed Animal with a Sound Chip

For plush toys that can’t be machine washed or immersed in water:

  • wash its surface only
  • use a soft toothbrush to remove any stuck on dirt or debris. This also loosens any dirt that might be stuck deep in the fibers
  • use a warm, damp cloth to wash the surface of the toy

Stuffed Animal without a Sound Chip

For stuffed toys that do not have a sound / electric chip inside:

  • hand wash the toy with mild detergent
  • hand washing also prevents any scratches on the eyes of your toy

Keep in mind, whether you hand-washed or machine-washed the plush toy, most can’t be dried in a hot dryer. Air dry the plush toys or place them in the dryer on an air only cycle for up to twenty minutes.

Other Tips

  • Dust stuffed animals off periodically with a clean, soft cloth
  • Use a cloth and a mild detergent to spot clean them
  • Place it in the dryer on the lowest heat setting for around 5 minutes
  • To get rid of odors, place in the dryer on the lowest heat setting for 5 minutes with a dryer sheet (i.e. Downy, Snuggle etc.)

Do you have any other tips for your fellow readers?

From flower girl to firefighter, each dress up set comes in clear packaging that includes two accessories. Our retail friends can combine the dress up packaging (perfect for slatwalls) with existing YooHoo & Friends displays.

Collectors will appreciate three different themes including: “Blast to the Past” with three YooHoo & Friends “hippies”; the “Go Green” set includes two flower girls and a princess butterfly; and the third set includes doctor, firefighter and police officer. Each “Dress Up” set retails for approximately $5 while each five inch YooHoo & Friends animal (w/ sound) retails for $6.

12 Giveaway-Days of Christmas December 14, 2010

Just this very minute, we kicked off a new contest at the YooHoo & Friends Facebook page! For the next 12 days (through December 25, 2010), we will giveaway one YooHoo & Friends themed prize pack every day to one winner. We know a couple things that will be in each pack — I see a plush “clip-on” that looks an awful lot like one of these guys:

YooHoo & Friends "Clip-Ons"

And that coveted YooHoo & Friends mousepad that everyone so desires:

Plusssssss……a couple other goodies 😀

But since it’s the season of giving and sharing…we think the winner should promise to share just one item from the prize pack with a friend, family member etc. That seems fair! And it’s really easy to enter…for more information, just visit http://www.facebook.com/yoohoofanpage and read the note titled “12 Giveaway-Days of Christmas”.

Good luck!

We wanted to share some great photos from Crystal, a fan and blogger who, earlier this month, hosted a YooHoo & Friends themed birthday party for her five year old son. Although there are birthday themed YooHoo & Friends animals, Crystal went on a creative spree and with a little imagination and some design software, made a whole bunch of awesome party supplies…you can too!

Here are Crystal’s treat bags and party hats:

She even made a piñata (named Eddy):

Mmmmm…time for cake!

Crystal says:

The cake was modeled after a party image on the YooHoo & Friends website and the figures were made using marshmallow fondant and some toothpicks for holding on legs and tails.

Excellent work Crystal. We were blown away!

If you host birthday parties with YooHoo & Friends, we’d love to see your creations and pictures. Visit our Facebook page and post them there!

It’s Halloween this weekend…be safe out there!!
